what to do with a ruined Optima yellow top
i boguht a Yellow top a month ago from sears. last weekend i went wheelin and the spacer i was using to hold it down fell out and it fell against the Powersteering pully and ate a small hole in the plastic. battery acid was leaking out i put duct tape on it to cover the hole and used a rock and bungie cord to hold it into spot. However its still holding a charge (for now) but I took it back to sears today to try to get it replaced under warrenty. there was no paper work on them installing it even tho i "told" them they did it. ("I dont need to pay someone to install a stupid battery, i can do it myself in the parkinglot...") so they said they couldnt give me a new one but they would sell me antoher one for 1/2 price. SO should i try to contact Optima about it, should i pay another 60 bucks for a new one, or do i slap some silicon sealant on it and hope it keeps a charge.
edit: i'll take pics of the hole once i get another camera, that got broken this weekend too... ( can you say expensive weekend?!)

the warranty is for the charge it carries .. not if you damage/abuse it, and then ask for a new one .. but who knows .. some sales monkey who doesn't care might just give you a new one. I know I'd try a couple of sears.

I just went through this with a Yellow Top that wouldn't hold a charge. The guy at SEARS gave me the run around and then I told him I wanted a new battery or things were going to get loud and ugly. He quickly gave me a new battery, as I had my receipt and new what the policy was on replacing batteries. If you call Optima, they'll tell you to take it where you bought it to have it warrantied.

Anyway, I dont think optima covers damage due to faulty install.
