Anybody seen these Cross Landers yet?

http://www.chapmancrosslander.com/

Says they are due here in the US late this year and it is October last I checked.

MSRP from $17,865 to $22,300!
City: 17 MPG
Highway: 22 MPG

That green one looks pretty sweet! More stylish than a FJ Cruiser.

I looked into them back in 98 when they where suppose to be released. They have been around for a long time but not in the US. Look up ARO 4x4, for that was thier name for awhile ago.
I will believe it when it happens...

Suspension:

Front Axle: Coil Springs & Shock Absorbers
Rear Axle: Leaf Springs & Shock Absorbers
Differential: Symmetrical
Ratio: 3.73

isnt that a little high? i figured 4.10 would be as high as you want to go wiht 4x4.

the hummer also has 16" of clearance...

Why are companies producing such potential-full vehicles that are simply gutless?

They are a Romanian based vehicle, and used by the Romanian military. I have a friend that lives over there and says they are very nice vehicles for the price.

You can find more here about the company, including the history of the vehicles:

Just like with those Chinese vehicles they keep trying to import - if you don't live near one of the few dealers warranty will be fun. And if it's built like most Russian vehicles, warranty service will be frequent. Parts will be nonexistant. Long term maintanance nightmare.

for a vehicle designed with so much off-road in mind as to come with a winch, piaa lights and a wilderness rack as original equipment, i would expect atleast a straight axle up front and 4.10 gears... it does puzzle me too as to why IFS is so popular even among vehicles made for "off-road" (the hummer is an exception). I just have a grudge against CVs

it probably uses a ford 4.0 ohv engine, its pretty tough, and decently torquey, but wont win any speed contests.... by the look of the vehicle, its a rebadged land rover... which ford happens to own a chunk of.....

It will never make it to the US, no matter how many times they say "it will be here in a few months". They have been saying that for 5-6 years now with nothing to show. I believe you guys are correct that it is a exploder engine, probably the best thing about the vehicle.

With Trailer Brakes: 5,049
Without Trailer Brakes: 1,650

Is it just me or is that not a lot?

basically it says it wont carry more than a utility trailer with an atv on it if it doesnt have its own brakes... the specs sound about right....
