I have just acquired an old roll bar for my truck. I would like to repaint it and right now I'm attempting to sand it, however I have discovered that this is a very slow inefficient way of going about getting the existing paint and surface rust off. I don't have access to a sand/soda blaster, so that is out of the question. Anybody know if a paint thinner would do the job without hurting the roll bar itself?

 

gel paint stripper. that should take it off. The "paint" on the roll bar may be like a plastic coating of some sort adding to your problems
