In my continuing quest for a new 3VZ-E I was told that Allied Engines in Orange County, California makes a quality product. Does anyone have any experience with them? Anyone heard anything about them. I also heard that they sell a lot of engines to Toyota dealers in the area. They want $2,675.00 for a 3.0.

 

I'm going to buy one from orient engines out of Kentucky for $1999 and $425 core. That price includes shipping to me and of my core to them. I think they offer a 3 or 5 yr warranty too. They specialize in import engine remanufacturing.

 

Thanks, I've seen all the recommendations for Orient. It sounds like they're doing it right. I was a little concerned about the fine print of their warranty that requires valve adjustment and head torquing before initial start up and again between 600 to 1000 miles. If I'm not doing the job myself that adds about $600 or more to the price. They also require in their warranty that the oil cooler be replaced. That part costs several hundred dollars. I'm sure that's all great insurance. But, it seemed a little excessive. Maybe not? I'd also rather deal with someone local if I can. It makes problem solving much easier. I hope someone's heard of Allied!! I was seriously looking at Jasper. But, I heard some bad news about their operation.

 

Head torque wouldn't be a big deal...just get a torque wrench and get the specs and look at the fsm on tightening sequence and you should be good to go. Valve adjustment isn't bad as long as ya go by the fsm and i would be certain someone from the boards could help with this process for I haven't done it on toys yet. I'm putting mine in my own self to make sure if anything is messed up then I caused the mess...not someone else that would set my temper off badly! of course I'm not very wealthy neither so gotta go with the cost effective things.

 

Ugh, I was just reminded . . . . the oil cooler that needs to be replaced costs $600.00.
