first off i tried the search and didnt find anything. im helping a friend with there 92 pickup with the 3vze. i wasn't around to see the battery cables being unhooked. there are three cables all wrapped in black electrical tape and no way of knowing which is + or -. there's one from the fuse box and two coming from down in the engine compartment. which go where? i don't need to fry anything.

the one going to the fuse box is part of the positive,the negative or ground should have a smaller wire coming offof it that attaches to the fender well.If you are still in doubt 'check the connections at the starter.
