2nd gen 4Runner tailgate adjustment?

After this last weekends run my truck have developed a "vibration" that sounds like it is coming from the tailgate( I'm not sure this is where the noise is coming from but it sounds like it). Kind of like if the tailgate wasn't closed all the way(it is...already checked that). Is there an adjustment from the tailgate or has anyoner had this "problem" before and how did you remedy it?

k I had the same problem and I actually just used eletrical tape and put a few layers around the arms that hold the tailgate from dropping all the way down... I am sure you could use something else also...

I just put the tape where the red boxes are...

Because on mine when I had the tailgate up the arms would rattle against each other and make a real annoying noise...

Not sure if this is the problem but it was for me on my 1st generation...

At least on the 1st gens, there are those plastic anti-rattle clips, visible in the lower picture at the lower right corner of the upper box. If those break off the support bars can rattle. Replace the clips and it is nice and quiet:
