got my tjm today now, to paint or not ??

i got my bumper today tjm t15.... jason @ burtman industries was fast, simple, and had an awesome price . two emails and one phone call and a weeks wait and its here ... now ive decided what i am going to do, just wanted to see what some of your opinions were my plans are to match the bumper to my factory paint. It came with what i believe is a power coat. going to sand/strip it then paint it to match the factory coat... just wanted to see what you guys thought . although i dont think it will turn out as awesome looking as andys , thats kinda the look i am going for. just looking to maybe see more ideas other than my own ... kinda looking for some different angles

thanks for the feedback
Ben

id say keep it black for awhile and see if it works for you. if not, take it off and then have it painted. because as they say in da hood, "once you go black, you never go back!"

how has the paint held up on yours ...as far as chipping goes (did you use a flex additive in your clearcoats?)

i didn't use a flex additive. i just sanded the powder coat, then added two coats of primer, sanding between coats, then a very thin coat, and while it was still fairly tacky, i hit it w/ the first coat of base. it got a total of 3 coats of base NOT sanded between and then 3 coats of clear. it was smooth as glass that way and did not need any finish sanding so the finish was nice and shiny with minimal work.

i think it will look good either way. however, if it's a limited that's two tone, once i went monochromatic, i've never looked back. if it's an SR5, then you could have it on a while, and then if you want, paint the front and rear bumpers at the same time. if it's a sport w/ the red rear bumper, then i'd definitly go red on the tjm...

KEEP IT BLACK, looks bad ass. I just put a T17 on my Tacoma last night and the install was really easy. We put all the brackets/bolts on loosely then jacked it up on both sides with a couple of hi lifts to set it exactly where I wanted it then tightened all the bolts. Be careful not to break any bolts and it is no problem. I don't know if it will be a problem on the Runner but on my Tacoma I couldn't put the two tie down loops back on the front. They wouldn't fit, I did get the hook back on no problem though.

Leave it black and powder coated. If you paint it real nice, then go wheeling and scratch the heck out of it, are you going to repaint it? Because you wouldn't be able to just hit it with t a rattle can. Seems like painting could become expensive to keep looking nice.

Not too bad, the worst thing is that it's heavy and cumbersome to move around. I've pulled mine and put it back on alone, but it was a LOT easier the first time with a buddy helping.

If you can't get some help, get a floorjack and use it to lift it from the middle, or at least support one side while you get a bolt in the other,

once you get them on your computer, hit this site..
http://www.photobucket.com/

will give you instructions to upload them, and then you just copy the 'IMG' line from the site and put that into yotatech. good luck. its really straight-forward.
