socal - la/oc/sd members FEB 9 trail run

Just wanted to extend the invitation to everyone here.

There's a thread up on 4x4wire on a trip this sunday in Julian:

"meet up in Julian and we can take a day trip through the badlands, down Diablo Dropoff, and end up in Fish Creek. No mods are needed for that run."

This is geared for stockers and noobs like myself who want to start gently before going crazy w/ the full body carnage!

http://www.4x4wire.com/cgi-bin/ultim...13;t=014942;p=

Hope you guys join us!

Looks like tentative time will be 8am at a gas station.

"You will go through the mountains, past Lake Cuyamaca and then into Julian. Make a left into town and you will see the gas station. I think on the corner there is a dirt area we can all meet at. We are meeting at 8 so you guys will need to leave pretty early. "

For more details, check out the thread and reply there

Looking forward to meeting all of ya!

Lance

i've read that 2wd should be able to make it thru the trails. You just have to be careful on your line and you'd make it thru.

I'm off the 605/60. if you're going, we can meet up somewhere.

I'm trying to get all the LA/OC members to meet up somewhere before we get into SD county so hopefully we'll get a pretty good turnout so we can convoy down together!

You will make it in 2wd. It may be a challenge on just a couple areas. Just air down and keep moving.

If you are coming you will need to leave pretty early Sunday morning to get to Julian by 8.

Just type in Julian, CA. There is 1 gas station on the east side of town. I am driving a gold 1995 Runner and will be getting ready to play.

Bring lunch, water, good tires, CB or FRS radios if you have them, We will have a good time.

leetest/dragonbud:

don't worry, there will be more trail runs like this for beginners. if you're more adventurous, u can try the trail run for feb 22. But i doubt a 2wd will make it tho ...

need not worry, more events will come by especially during the summer

I doubt the Julian gas station will be open, and there is no gas until we get back to Julian Sun afternoon. MAKE SURE YOU FILL UP!!!

I have made copies of maps for people. I have 20 copies now, but will make more if it looks like I will need it.

Looks like you guys from up north have a good plan. Give yourself a little extra time for the mountain driving up to Julian.

Meeting place in Julian is the gas station. There is no parking by the Julian Cafe. There is a dirt area just to the side of the gas station.

ATTENTION--IF FOR SOME REASON YOU ARE LATE AND MISS US. CONTINUE DOWN 78 TO THE DESERT FLOOR, TURN RIGHT ON S2 AND FOLLOW DOWN TO THE AIRPORT TURNOFF. YOU CAN WAIT THERE AND WE WILL PASS YOU BEFORE GOING INTO THE MAIN PART OF THE TRIP. JUST WATCH FOR A BUNCH OF DUSTY TOYOTAS COMING DOWN S2.
