Help!!! 91 pickup starting to hickup!
Hey guys
I'm wondering if you could help me out
I bought a 91 Toyota truck with a 22RE engine in it and it's starting to have some problems.
It seems that it runs fine until it warms up and then it starts bogging down. There's no power and the truck will start lurching. Only seems to do this once the engine warms up. My boyfriend has been trying to figure it out for the last week but he's not really the mechanical type he thinks he is.
Can anyone help?
Kat

Welcome to the board
.
Sounds like the cold start injector is bad, or leaking it is on the right side of the upper intake plenum. It has a electrical conector and a fuel line going to it. When the engine is warm and it is leaking it will cause a rich condition.
Has any tune-up been done to it? O2 sensor replaced? Any check engine light?
Another thing to check is to look under the oil cap to see if there is moisture or chocolate-milk like residue (possible head gasket leak that is more prevelent when warm). But I would start with tune-up/ Cold start injector.
The rest of the wolves will chime in when they read the "boyfriend". Don't worry they are harmless.

Well thanks for the Welcome!
It's always nice to feel at home...
We had the o2 sensor replaced a couple of months ago when we had it tuned up but doesn't look like it fixed the problem. Then engine light doesn't come on or anything
The garage says they don't see the problem and it checks out fine but they changed the fuel filter just in case. I'm going to take it back and talk to the mechanic about the start injector
Thanks again!
