Do you have the sunroof? If so, you'll get a leak at the top of the windshield every now & then. Repair requires removing the windshield. How can you tell that the ect button is not staying in one mode or the other? Don't know how well it works on the 4 cyl., but on the V6 both modes suck. 4WD - the front hubs should have a rotating center piece. Point the arrow to 'Free' and shift the transfer case to 2, and you're in 2wd. Point the arrow to 'Lock' and shift the transfer case to 4H or 4L and you're in either 4 High or 4 Low. In the odd case, you'll have automatic hubs with a solid centerpiece. In that case, just shift the transfer case, but you'll probably have to back-up 10 - 20 feet when shifting from 4WD to 2WD to unlock the hubs. You don't have to, but it really helps the mpg!
