Relief valve?

do any of you know where in the oil pump the relief valve goes? is it inside the timing belt cover or outside the cover. I think mine came out and it is leaking oil any ideas would help it is on a 89 v6 3.0 5 spd

Looking at the diagram in the manual it looks like it goes straight out the bottom of the oil pump into the pan. If you're leaking oil from the timing cover I would think it's the front crank seal.
