Im considering buying a 86 4runner with a turboed 22-re and a auto tranny. I dont like the idea of having an auto but i like everything else about the runner. How difficult and expensive would it be to swap a manuel 5 spd into it? Would i also have to change the transfer case?

 

yes, you'd have to put in a different transfer case, the autos have one built in. the real bonus to the turbo rigs is that they got the R151F tranny and 23 spline transfer case, but you don't get one with the auto. otherwise any W56 or G52 will fit
