305/70R16 - will they fit on my '00 4runner???

i am about to install a 3" lift on my '00 4runner, and i am wondering if 305/70R16 tires will fit with my 16x7 factory rims or if i am limited to a 285/75R16?

if anyone has tried the wider tires any info would help.

thanks!

Okay, I'll bite.

If you're talking about the rims, the answer is no for 2 reasons. Goodyear suggests minimum 8" rim with the MT/R and BFG the same with the KM. I would suggest following their recommendation. Plus, you would need much, much less backspacing (puts the wheel further out) with that tire width than your stocker. 285's barely fit by the tiniest of margins without rubbing on the A-arm. 305's (~12.5") probably wouldn't even turn on a stock wheel!

You will need a body lift (2" I think) for those even if you did get them. It sounds like there's still rubbing even with a body lift.

The general consensus is to stick with the 285's for these reasons.

I agree with Darren. From what I know, you're gonna need a body lift and some rims with more backspacing to run 305's.

I run 285/75s now with 2 3/4" of lift and I still have a bit of rubbing at full steering lock. There is no way I could (or want to) fit anything in there bigger than that.

Check out this thread if you want to see how Ace Laserna runs 35's on his Runner.

Darren: Thanks for your your lift measurements.
