Question belt tensioner info.

This is probably a stupid question but this is my first toyota. I was wondering if i am supposed to have a spring on the idler pulley to tighten the timing belt. The manual i have shows the spring but i have a two bolt tensioner that pusher on the idler pulley as you tighten it. I appreciate all the help.

I realize this post is kinda old, but your question was never responded to. In 93 Toyota changed that spring out to the automatic tensioner you are talking about. I really hope you didn't install the tensioner with it fully extended, as that would hiedeously overtighten your belt. Found that out on my Honda CRF250.....
