Confused on tacoma bed size....

I'm looking into buying a truck box from better built the quantum series....anyway it keeps asking what size bed of course but the choices have me a bit confused....

i have to choose from:

1. Tacoma Short Bed
2. Tacoma Long Bed
3. Tacoma Stepside

Now I'm ASSUMING the short bed = the bed with the 4 door models, the long bed is the bed on the ext cab models and reg cab models, and the stepside is well on the stepside models...

So I'm assuming I want to choose Long Bed right?

I believe the only tacos with short beds are the double cabs - the rest are the same length....not 100% though

This is very confusing because the Tacomas don't have a Long Bed as it's commonly referred to. Yes, it's longer than the double cab's "short bed". But, the short bed is commonly known as the 6ft bed which is the most common bed. The double cab's "very short bed" doesn't have an indistry accepted designation. I would certainly call the company you're purchasing from to verify information.

I agree, the 6ft. bed is known as the short bed. The DC is the worthless bed.

From: Way down in the hole...
The size of the short bed on the taco and 95 and earlier short bed pickups is essentially the same-I don't think the inside measurements have changed, just the styling on the outside. I briefly had a cap that was from a 92, it fit, just looked bad.

I think you want the short bed. The long bed is probably 8' (like on my '81!).

It looks like the box for the short bed and the long bed have the same dimentions. Same size so order either one. On one of the boxes they have a listing for a 4 door Tacoma.

well it doesnt show the deminsions of the wheel well cut outs into the box....the wheel wells interfere with with box so it has to be designed for it....if the bed is longer and there is more distance between the wheel well and the front of the bed then the box is bigger.....

Also the part numbers are different, but I see the same part numbers threw out the application list. So I assume they are different...

I was not aware there was a clearance issue with the wheel wells. I also have not taken my tonneu cover off in a while so I have'nt looked at my bed.
Looks like a nice box, better call to be sure.

Well I called them and they told me I needed the 70011318 model, which is for the short bed...So I dunno I guess we'll see....By coincedance I stopped by Advanced Autoparts and asked the guy about the Quantum tool box and he said he could get em....so at least this way if it doesnt fit he can fix it....
