Thanks For the info. I fanally got it last night. But now that I have the shrink, and the movie is on my HD does it burn as data? I have a burn program called sonic record that came with the computer. It has a "burn data" option. Is that it?

I would look for DVD XCopy Platitium....Although I guess thats pirating, its also not....Since it burns movies directly they had to stop making it work like that. So since its not for sale anymore I dont see the harm in downloading it for free somewhere....

Gene, most movies are made on a dual layer disc (over 8 GB) and DVD Shrink which I use compresses it to fit onto a regular 4.7 GB disc.
A lot of movies are also encrypted, and the Shrink takes out the protection.
But you need Nero too, as it is the burning engine that the Shrink uses to burn with.
Two ways you can do it.
Use Shrink to put the files on your PC, then later use Nero to burn them.
To long that way, I just check the check mark in Shrink to use the Nero plug-in.
Movies come out perfect each time.
Trick it to not burn at your burners maximum setting either, I burn at 2x or 4x instead of 8x or 16x.
Also DVD -R is more compatible with home DVD set top players for your TV, but I always use the + ones.
I have to back up all my movies, as my son will borrow mine, then his mother and step dad watch it, then her brother who lives there, ect.
Comes back dirty, so it is a good idea to back up a movie if you are shelling out $15 to $20 a pop.

Thanks Corey! That helps me - besides, its good to type at you again! It's been a while!
I've got a friend that asked me to teach him how to burn DVD's as he is not a computer guy. Since I am, he assumed I knew all about burning DVD's - heh-heh.

DVD Shrink compresses the DVD files. You save it in a folder of your choice on the PC and Nero burns it to a DVD recordable disk.

Chris, I think they are all ignoring you. DVD Decrypter takes the dvd, removes most decrption CSS ect. (the thing that prevents copying) and copys a the functional DVD onto your hard drive. I believe you can then use it to burn a copy of your DVD. I use DVDBackup, an OS X 10.42 modified DVD2One(not availible) and Toast for mine unless there is no CR protection, then I just use Roxio Popcorn.

Cool. I've messed with it some since then. My current favorite way to burn is to copy the disk to an ISO file onto my hard drive, then burn them using Nero later. That way I don't have to sit there and babysit the computer the whole time.
I'm also trying to figure out how I can store some of the DVD's on the hard drive and use Windows Media Player or DivX Player to play them from the hard drive. I know there's gotta be a free way to do this, I just haven't done enough research into it to find out how.

I have all of my DVDs I back up also on my external drive so I can watch them anytime on the PC rather than the TV.
Just fire up your favorite DVD playback app, and choose the main title when opening up the files.

However, having those files on the HD takes up all of that 4.7 gigs per movie. I know there are other options that aren't so costly in terms of space, such as encoding to DivX or MPEG4 or something like that.
