The 2nd Gen cup holders may not be great at holding cups, but i think i've found another use.

Since there's a new cellphone headset law, i had to put the phone somewhere i can see it. There's a clip on the back of my phone case and i slid it onto the flat part of the cup holder and pushed it back in.

That is a pretty good idea. I usually put my cell phone on my sunvisor, but in your case, the cord would be in the way. The cupholder, although lacking in the whole cupholding aspect, does have other functions. I use it to hold my GPS, etc. Good ideas are all around! :fireman:

 

I did that most of the summer cause the bottom of my cupholder was broken. Now it always has a cup of coffee in it!

 

What was Toyota thinking when they put the cupholder there? Apparently they don't think you need to get to you heat controls since you have a nice hot cup of coffe in the cupholder. I really feel for you guys. My buddy has a '96 Tacoma and the cupholders SUCK.
