Whenever I turn the heat or air on the motor is making a distinct clicking sound. I've tried taking it out and cleaning it to no avail. Makes me wonder if I should just replace it.

Is it making contact with something up inside the duct?
A worn out motor doesn't usually "click".

the fan in My Tercel does this, but i haven't taken it apart to look at it. I always thought that something was stuck in it.

I just got done cleaning mine, a mouse nest was made above it and when I went to put recirculate on (drops the door) it fell right on my fan (killing the mouse).

Thanks,
Mario

You might have a look at the motor brushes:

Thanks,
Mario

I took it all apart and......

There aren't any broken blades or anything and I think it may be the brushes. When I turn it by hand either way it always clicks in the same spot regardless of which way I turn it. I tried getting the white fan assembly off and I dont know what its on there with but I can't think of anyway to pry it without flexing that fan. Worried about breaking it.

It does come off, I think I remember "Keisur" did it at one point.
If you did turn it by hand and it made a sound that is a pretty good clue where to look (most assumed you would have mentioned this).
Once you get the fan off, the motor is easy to take apart.

I assume you saw this as well already:

Here is the original big thread on fan ticking:

yes I saw both those posts

Although now after rereading again see how to pull the motor out of the housing. Don't know how I missed that before. Will it come out with the fan still attached to the front? And what about the contactors where the pkug goes in? Do those come out with the motor?

Yes, mine came out with the fan still attached, the connector comes out with the motor as well.
