2003 4Runner at the LA Auto Show

i went to the auto show yesterday and took a few pictures of the new 4runner. toyota sure made a big deal about it...there were like 4 or 5 different ones there, including this one, from sr5 to limited. this was on spinning on the platform and had quite a few nice mods done to it.

i noticed that it says "Safari Gard" on all of the protection equipment. is this a toyota thing or is it possible that the Rover company is getting into Yota's. i love the bumpers they make for disco's, they are expensive though. that is also a nice winch that is mounted inside the stock front bumper there.

Actually, upon looking at the picture again.. That isn't the same guard that was installed on a '03 at the dealer, I retract my statement.

More on the pictured vehic.

I think the wheels are Alcoa Classic II's, painted black, with black bead locks. Looks nice.

I take it back... I just saw Safari Gard's website and they're not Alcoa wheels. I wasn't even close. Oh well.

well i hope to be test driving one of those on Wednesday, my friend is planning on getting one, she thinks maybe a 2002 model if they have any left otherwise 2003 model. Been doing some research on how to price the vehicle, what did the 03 owners pay for their vehicles? She plans on buying a 4runner on Sunday

Here in socal, the 4runner's are going for around 700-1000 over invoice! make sure u don't say u heard it from me tho

prices have been relatively cheap cuz alot of buyers are not too hot about the body cladding. Also toyota apparently mass produced too much 4runners that they're still on the lot w/ more coming.

My dealer told me that usually on a new model run, they'll get a few to start w/ and then have to wait up to 2-4 wks before more arrive but the mfg's been sending them 4runners on a weekly basis where there's more 4runners available than what's selling so.... good time for us cuz we can get em cheaper! hehe

if you're interested in buying from outside hawaii, check out carson toyota @ http://carsontoyota.com/html/special.html

I know Dianne in the Internet Department does out of state sales (quite a few), she'll be the one that'll be able to get u the right 4runner for ya.

gl!

I paid somewhere around $125 over invoice on my Limited, depending on who you talk to. A Toyota sales guy I ran into said I actually got it for less than that, but the above is what the dealer said. I didn't even have to fight with them.
This is in NW Florida, FWIW.

re: The wheels... I e-mailed the company, but they haven't responded.
