Supercharger nose drive?

Supercharger nose drive?
Does anyone know how much it is to replace the nose drive on the TRD supercharger. Of all the reading that I have done, it seems that this is the most likely part to have a breakdown. Since it looks like Toyota is going to discontinue the 3.4l engine, should I consider buying a spare nose drive assembly now? Since our recent addition to the family (my daughter) I don't plan on buying another truck for quite some time.

Not sure about going to the expense of purchasing a complete nose drive, but I would look at Gadget's site: www.gadgetonline.com and check to see what he did to reinforce his nose drive. I'm going to get that part before I buy the nose drive for a "just in case" scenario.
Chris
P.S. The part is called a single pulley plate that was used on the superchargers that don't have the newer tensioner. Check out how he modified it to fit the newer superchargers.

FYI:
Toyota still makes the 3.4L They still use it on the '03(4th Gen) Hilux Surf(Japanese 4 Runner) The Surf gets all the nicer options but still gets the 3.4L Besides a turbo-desiel they don't even have the option for the 4.0 V-6 or the V-8.
So....any 3.4L parts should be readily available for awhile. Plus, I'm sure TRD will carry s/c parts for quite some time especially since the s/c is popular.

Noel,
You misssed my point, I think. Check out Gadget's site at www.gadgetonline.com and find the single pulley thing, and you'll see what I'm talking about. I don't beleive you have it! You have to fabricate it to make it support the nose.

Got it Chris, i thought your were talking about the belt tensioner.
Thanks.
I'm not even sure what I am so worried about. The truck only has 16,000 miles on it and the blower only has about 11k.
Thanks.

Good deal! Gadget did it just to be safe, and I'm going to do it too. It's probably cheaper to do it than replacing the Nose Drive, don't you think? At any rate, have you done any other engine modifcations to your vehicle in addition to the supercharger? Just curious!

Not yet. I put in an Amsoil filter but that does not count as a modification as far as I am concerned. I plan on doing a computer, injectors, fuel pump, blah, blah, blah. It never ends.

Gadget wrote about the manufacturer of the supercharger selling a rebuilt nose for it. Someone else makes it for TRD. I forget there name, so you will have to search his site. They say its good to change after a certain amount of miles.
Do you know how many superchargers have been sold and same with 3.4 engines? I don't but I know there are enough that TRD and Toyota will be selling parts for them for a long time...
You can still get 22R engine parts for early 80's trucks....

This is an interesting thread.
I think that there is something that needs to be cleared up. The support brace I installed for the nose of my supercharger is not to make the nose drive last longer. It is to take the load off of the manifold mounting bolts. It will not have any affect on the service life of the supercharger nose drive.
I hope I have cleared that up for you all.

in the next few months my T-100 that I have posted about in the Supercharger thread I started is going to be torn down and rebuilt from the ground up. I have been involved in off-road desert racing for many years and this truck is going to be my new prerunner for driving down to our pits on the race courses in Baja.
Anyway what I wanted to let you guys know is that I am going to be fabricating many parts for the truck and I might make one of those support brackets for my supercharger. If anyone has trouble doing it themselves send me an e-mail and I can probably make you one. I will be using a plasma cutter to cut the steel, or the optical eye plasma cutter at my friends shop in southern california.
P.S. Gadget if you could check out that thread about my supercharger on the 95 T100 that would be great. The Perfect Power PRS8 sounds like a good option since it replaces the ECU, but I am still unsure. Maybe you have some suggestions on a goor route to take.

I would not worry to much about having a spare nose drive on hand. They can always be overhauled along with the whole supercharger. All of this can be done in short order even if the TRD kits go out of production. The innerds are the same as any other Eaton supercharger.

Nose drive
I did a quick write up when I replaced my nose drive.

I can't remember the price, but do a search on Nose Drive. I'm pretty sure I posted the price for someone.
