Fan Problems/Seatbelt retractors

Has anyone had this problem: The dash fan for the heater/ac only works on III and HI. I replaced the switch with one I know works and it does the same thing. What do I check now?

Also, 1st gen front seatbelt retractors must be made by chevy. They do a lousy job of retracting. I took them apart and tightened the spring and they still work half assed. Do later gen retractors hold up any better and do they swap in?

There is a rheostat (i think thats what it is called) that is on the passenger side by the fan motor. Its where the wires plug into I think. it needs to be replaced if you want to have the first 2 speeds back. It costs around $15.
The first gen seatbelt retractors are not very good. I'm not sure if a newer one would swap out or not.

the seatbelt retreactor suck in the first two gens for sure. 90-91 seatbelts are different than 92-95 for sure. Found out the hard way. First gen i don't know about but early 2nd gen belts would be the way to go if you couldn't find a good set of 1st gens at a wreckers. There is also a spring tension adjustment that can be done to the belt retractor online somewhere. Try a google search and see what comes up.
