I've wanted to go bigger for a while.

I had planned to go with a 285/60/18 but can't seem to find a wheel that gets the outside edge where I want it.
This being important b/c I like a wide truck that can handle high speed corners.

-25 on a 18x10 sticks it out too far, not real crazy about the lack of protection for the wheel's outter bead either

0 on a 18x8.5 is about an inch less on overall width of the truck than I have now.


So I had an idea about going to the 305/60/18, it's extra width should make up for what I'm losing in the offset.

I'd wanted a little more diameter anyway.

My only concern is that w/ Toyo being the only ones to make this size and their scarceness might not be a good choice.
Everybody and their brother makes a 285


What do you think? Should I go with the oddball 305 or live with a little less width but the common 285.

Price difference is ~$30 a tire


I think the truck would look bad ass with that tire. Freeking thing is 12" wide!

 

So your going for more of a performance tread than an offroad right. If so then the Toyo seems like a perfect choice. There isnt much in those sizes. I know goodyear makes the old GTII in wide 18" sizes again thats an all season performance. If you were goin for an off road look 275/65-18 seems like the only option.

 

I really like this Antera 301 wheel, but it's sooo expensive


Yea, I'm leaning towards more street use.
When I was younger all I wanted was mudders, needed them too.
Then I discovered the AT type tires liek Coopers and lately Michelin.
I could not believe they were so quiet. These Mich handle street under all conditions and have never let me down. I got 60kmi on these tires and I'm hard on tires.

I've been offroad twice since I got the Mich and it was more just using my head than having enough traction.

 

i have the same toyos on my truck. i highly recommend them. over 20k miles and they still have over 50% tread. pretty impressive for a performance tire if you ask me. id go with the 305, but check the overall diameter to make sure it wont rub.

 

Go with what you want want, you only live once. Since it's discount tire, get the road hazzard & let them buy you replacements if needed.
