Post making new out of old drive shaft

so those of you that have gone duel t cases (4cyl) what did you do for a rear drive shaft. i just cut mine and rewelded it. i measured the compressed and extended langth of the drive shaft, then jacked my truck up from the bumper and mesured the distance between flanges, then droped the truck and loaded a lot of weight into the truck and took that mesurement. i ended up cutting 3.75" out of my shaft. i took the pice and slit it so i could use it as a sleave inside the drive shaft. i driled 4 holes in each end of the cut outer shaft and slid the sleave in and welded the sleave to the shaft in the 4 holes on each side, i then welded the seam of the two outter shafts in small amounts aposing each other until i was all the way around. i ground my welds smothe and it looks realy good. i used a strate edge to make sure everything was going on good. was this a big or did i do a good thing

Sounds fine. When I was making my own we never bothered to use a sleeve. You may want to have someone balance it if you are going to use it on road at all. My welds were not perfect and it made the truck shake pretty bad at anything over about 5 mph.
