Doors frozen shut

Now that it's getting colder, my doors have been freezing shut. To top it off, this AM I opened the passenger door and the gasket came off along with it. Anyone have simple solutions to avoid and fix this? Thanks in adance.

Pull the gasket, put a tiny bead of silicone on the metal pinch weld, then put the gasket back on. Then take some petroleum jelly (or cooking oil) on a rag and wipe the seals with it to LIGHTLY lubricate them. Wipe the excess off. They won't freeze anymore!

I found that silicone spray (or teflon spray) works wonders for that too. Spray it on a rag and quickly wipe it on the rubber.

You could move to Florida
I had the same problem a couple of days ago too. But also my locks were froze shut as well. Time for a little winterization I guess.

Graphite powder in the key hole. Or, Eddie Bauer makes a battery operated device that you put into the keyhole and melt the ice (kinda like a long key).

I've had my windows and sunroof freeze shut also, the motor couldn't budge them.
Had to wait for them to thaw.

Silicone spray works wonders

Use that here on both of my cars... A common problem for people here in the wintertime Simple and effective, I also spray it in the locks

If however you have a door frozen shut (and the lock too.. ) just fill a bucket with hot water .. (not too hot ) and pour it over the door.. That allows you to open it at least..

Never just pull.. you can damage the door knob or something else, go inside the car from anothe door and push to open

i think this has happened to me once since i got my drivers license... but then again, it was a freak snow storm at our ranch in the hill country of texas, and it laid down about 6 inches of snow... other than that, there is not really a chance for the weather to get that cold here

Here's a trick if you have frozen door/window problems after a car wash.

After the wash roll all your windows down a 1/2" and leave the doors partially closed on the first click. After about 8 hours all the water should gone.

if you just use the silicone spray.. just spray the contact areas ... takes less than 5 minutes of your time, should only needed to be done 1-2x a winter.

I have one silicone bottle here at home, and spray outdoor clothes and shoes with it too.
