I have just the rubber mat in the cab and was looking at the JCWhitney carpet kits. Anyone have any experience with these? Would I just be better off finding a used OEm one at the junk yard?

I'm pretty sure I used the JC Whitney kit on my 81 Wagoneer. It was about what I expected. A little thin. No real cuts to be made. Got all the major turns in the car. once it was in it looked better then when it just came out of the box.

What price are you paying for the carpet kit?

 

I bought an aftermarket carpet kit for the wife's Taurus (after fixing the water leak). It fit ok (looks like it was press molded to the shape). It has a couple wrinckles where there were compound angles. Had to make some minor cuts for the seat bolts and where wires come through.

Got mine from an upholstery shop that listed it on ebay.

I just put carpet in my 4Runner, it was from Auto Custom Carpets outlet on ebay. It was thin (although you can get the rubber backed carpet for more $$) and a pain to put in. You'll have to cut the holes for the center console and trim the edges. It looks fine and smells 1000% better than the old carpet so I'm pleased.

 

I bought a kit from JC W. a few years back for my 94. THE BIGGEST PAIN IN THE A$$ to install! IMHO.
Its not just a drop in and go. You have to cut the sifter holes, trim pieces here and there, pull the seats pull the lower part of the dash, pull the ext. cab seats out. I suggest while you got all that out you do any wiring mods you need done. I love the carpet. It just wasn't as easy I thought it was going to be. My brother bought a kit for his 95 Taco and we did it the next day while the nightmare was still vivid and fresh in my mind.
