trading in my F-250 and selling my Yota

Ive got a plan that will allow me to have the best of both worlds, a fast Mustang and a 4x4 truck. What I plan to do is trade in the F-250 next summer and sell the yota and get a 95 or older Toyota pick up with a 22R/22RE manual tranny with 4x4. And once thats paid off in late 06 early 07 Ill be able to get another Mustang.

So what does everyone suggest for me? I want a 4cyl for the better gas milage and Id like to get an extended cab, but Id lke to stay in a price range of 7-8K or less. And Id like to get an EFI one, is this possible? Im not too worried about milage cause from what Ive experienced, this 22R is one tough ass motor

Suggestions?

Around here in SLC, when I was shopping for a xtra-cab 93-95, or a second gen 4runner, I found the market to be rather eccentric. I found a quite a few 4x4 90-95 xtra cabs that were manual, but very few slushboxes, which was what I wanted. So, I expect that depending on where you are, you can get a 90-95 xtra cab pickup with a 4cyl/5speed for 4-6k with 120-160k miles. Go for private party, you can usually get a better feel of how the truck was maintained, as well as a better deal. You'll probably see a good number of pickups with v6's, but if you're going stick, I'm with you, go for a 22re. Show it a little love and it'll take you everywhere you want... and your SO too :-)

The truck'll make a fine DD, me thinks, and when it comes time to buy the mustang you want, you'll get a good sampling of both worlds.

BTW... they're all fuel injected in the 90-95 year range. (they were all fi'd before that, but I'm sure about the 90-95 range)

good luck,
B
