What sub to chose between these 2???

I have a JBL GTO 601.1 amp that has around 550 rms at 2 ohms. Which sub would be best for me. I want it to hit HARD and be loud but I dont want to worry about blowing it. Here are the choices:
JL Audio 12W3 V2
KICKER SOLOBARIC S12L5 12"

Well the jl 12w3v2 is only rated at 250 watts rms while the 12l5 is rated at 600 so it would be more suited to your amp. I have to 12l5 running off a 1200.1 which was tested at 1450 watts rms bridged to 1ohm. I'm plenty happy with the bass from these speakers but will probably be upgrading to 2 12l7 since I have the amp to push them. One 12l5 should be good for your application though

If you're just after loud and hard, I think the Kicker L5 is what you want. In my opinion though, the JL 12W3v2 is the better sounding sub.

The L5 will be good, and if you don't ever want to worry about it blowing get an L7

Diamond audio makes good subs in that power range, So does digital designs, Rockford Fostage, and even eclipse. All thoes are better than thoes speakers you listed.

I failed to metion why they are better. They have larger magnets and longer throws. This ussaly = better and deeper sound.

Just remember if they have lager magnet and have a longer throw you truley need to have alot more power then they recomend in order to get the best sound out of it. you want to have more power on hand then the sub needs. It is better to over drive a sub then under drive a subwoofer. So if he has 550 wrms then a I would say you should go with the JLs even though I hate them. I am not a fan of how the Squares sound but that is just me.

Ture but thoes companies are becoming more power counsious<sp?> Even Digital Designs offer low level entry speakers that run as low as 250rms. I just am not a fan of JLs I ran them for along time and thought they were the best thing in the world. Untill I bought Boston Acoustics subs and eventualy Digital Desings
