Question I broke my intake silencer box. What should I do?

The plastic holds on my intake silencer box broke. The the alternator pulley wheel ground off a nice big hole in the corner. Is the box really neccessary? Would the intake get stupid lout with out it? I have the FIPK.

Yeah here's Blu's mod:

https://www.yotatech.com/~corey/tech/blu_intake/blu.htm

And here's mine:

It gets a REALLY NICE TONE afterwards and you will get a horsepower rise. If you already have the FIPK though...Use it!

I'm taking about the other box thing. :)

The intake tube in the FIPK eliminates all off the wierd box things. In the 4th picture of Blu's mod, you can see a corner of the box i'm talking about.

It's in the bottom right corner, you can pnly see a 1/5 pf the top of it. It has some raised lines on it. One hose comes off part of the air intake chamber pipping, and goes into one end. The other hose comes off the box and goes into the bottom of the AFM assembly.

Does that discription make sense?

Personally I like the sound, a bit more throaty, and increases air flow. You can see from my pic that I routed the hose back into the air filter housing, which is basically where it went in the first place. I have seen a couple mods done with a different filter system and they used a smaller filter directly attached to the small hose (mainly on hondas). I have better performance and a bit better gas mileage. Do a search on the mod, lots of good info and pics.
