Aw heck, that won't help you will it? The 4runners have the kind that slides back and forth, don't they? Sorry

Next to the button that opens/closes the sunroof you should have a door that opens( I'll take a pics as soon as i can). In that area you will see a hole. Insert a large flat blade screwdriver into that hole. You will be able to close your sunroof manualy. It takes some time but it works till you figure out whats wrong.

Also check your fuses

Thanks for the help.. I've tried the little hole in that compartment and it has a pretty hard time turning? Is that normal? And should I turn it clock wise (looking up at it) or counter clockwise? The thing is... I push the button and I can hear the motor running, but, It won't move the sunroof. That, and if I close it by hand, it's not able to pop up and seal to the roof of the car.

In the long run, all solutions are temporary, so go ahead and use duct tape.

You're welcome, I'm glad some folks have found a use for it. At first I put it all there for my own, personal, selfish reasons . But I stuck the link here a few times, and people are using it, so that's great! I will have those wiring diagrams up sometime. Hehe, I've been putting it off for a little while now.

If you are pushing the button and hear the motor going then turning it by hand wont help. Seems like you may have broken a drive cable.

NOTE: For installation reference, note number and position of
shims when removing sun roof.

1) Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove sun roof switch.
Remove sun visors, rear view mirror, and
front assist grips. Remove roof opening trim moldings.
2) Release clips and front portion of headliner. Unplug and
remove drive motor. Remove inner panel trim plates. Remove sun roof
mounting nuts and shims. Pull upward on sun roof glass to remove.
3) Remove wind deflector. Remove guide rail cover. Remove
cable guide casing. Remove sunshade trim. Remove drive rail. To
install, reverse removal procedure.

Here's a possible FSM solution. Yeah it's 10 bucks, but if you're really up against the wall...
