Uh Oh...whats this??

A small leak of red fluid coming from somewhere on the passenger side of the motor.
It doesnt seem to be brake, clutch or power steering fluid and I cant locate where its coming from.
It shows a drip streak on the front of the front differential and leaves a drop or two as soon as I park.
What the heck is it???

It looks like ATF,but I have a 5 speed and its far forward of the gearbox.
I wonder how much of a task it is to change the gasket?

how do you know its not coolant? how many miles does your truck have on it? has the water pump been replaced? cause mine just leaked a little bit and only sometimes, turned out to be the water pump

I've never seen RED diff fluid, but I'm no mechanic...all diff fluid I've ever seen starts out like typical oil color, clearish brown....ohhh and used diff fluid smells absolutely horrible...

Ive pretty much eliminated everything except the diff fluid.PS fluid is virtuall clear and the res. is full,so is the clutch, brakes.I'll have to take a closer look in the AM when its light and not raining.

I dont know why someone would use ATF for diffs but thats what it looks and smells like.I allways thought gear oil was used in diffs.

Oh well. The good news is I get my sliders welded on tommorow!!

you might've gotten a real schmuck previous owner...

the fluid in your power steering reservoir shouldn't be clear i'd think. should be red, as it should be dextron ATF
