Did you get a bigger spare when upsizing tires?
I was at National Tire and Wheel today in Wheeling WV. I picked up another 15x8 MT Classic II and BFG Mud 33x12.5 for use as a spare. I've been riding around for almost a year with a worn down 32 up under the truck.
This got me thinking. What did you do when you upsized your tires on your rig. Did the spare get left alone, or did it get upsized too?
One of the main reasons I did mine now is since I'm now locked front and rear. (Well, after I get my OBA in I will be..

i'm choice #2 in that poll. i've got 285s with a 265 spare. i got a good deal on the 265 (free, thanks taco bell
) so i replaced the spare with it. if another good deal should come around on a 285, i'll take it.

I hit up 4wheel parts when they had a buy 4 get one free deal, so i had the spare wheel, then i got a fulsize spare when i had 31's but havent even thought about gettin a bigger spare since i got 32's. Eh whatever i cant afford one anyways, im not even gonna think about it.

How large of a spare can you fir under a 3rd generation? I've got 265/75R16 Revo's with a 265/70R16 goodyear spare. I don't even think I could fit a 265/75 in the stock location, especially since I have a trailer hitch mount. Any thoughts????

well if you have an auto locker, i recomend allthe same. If you drive with two different size tires on an auto locked axle...well i can only imagine the multitude of scenarios. If you dont have a locker, who cares.

The worn out spare does fit snug tight beneath the truck. I dont think a new one would fit.

When I went from 28s to 32s I did, but when I went from 32s to 33s I did not. I would say that if there was a significant change in size or tread type (all-season to MT, for example) I would go with an appropriate spare. If it's a more subtle change, it's not as big of a deal.

I have the same size spare tire/wheel and rotate them all out. So when I buy new tires I have to buy 5, but it keeps me with the same tires (type and brand) everytime. Plus, I dont have to worry about having one good tire and four bad ones.
Just my personnal preference.

I also stopped at the new Cabelas store outside of Wheeling. I was able to get out of there in 45 minutes
. I'll be taking the family there for some shopping soon. They have literally 100's of animals (taxidermy) on display, a cafe' and lots of good deals. The place is simply awesome!!
