Question 2k exhaust fitment?

Does anyone know if an exhaust system designed for the single cat layout will be a "bolt up" fitment on a dual cat system by just eliminating the second cat?
Thanks,
Michael

I would say "No" because the Dual cats are not bolted together. It is an entire pipe consisting of the Two Cats. Your best bet is to get a system designed for the dual cats or just have a free-flow muffler welded in place of the stock muffler.

That would be the most economical and best bang for the buck. I believe the Pipe size from the outlet of the Cats to the Tailpipe is 2.5".

Thanks for the reply.
I could swear that they are bolted together at the front of the second cat. I will have another look at it this evening, and put up another reply.

You're right, the second cat bolts on at the outlet of the first. MY bad. It was late when I wrote that...

Here's a pic: (Thanks goes to TRD4RNR)

Here's another one:

Even though the cats are bolted together and not a single pipe, the placement of the cats precludes you from using the 96-98 systems as a direct bolt on. The Single Cat exits somewhere between the two crossmembers.

Still, with that said, you can buy a Borla System for the 96-98 trucks and cut the head pipe that connects to the rear cat and then to the muffler to length.

If you don't want to do that, well there are systems for the Dual Cat trucks, you know.

Dr. Z Thanks.
That is what I kinda thought. I was working on good deal on a Jardine, but it is for the single cat. Oh well, the search continues.
