Black Bear Pass claims 2 lives

Well, sadly enough, a couple from missouri in a lifted rubicon, rolled off the pass late tuesday afternoon.

I had just posted, that I had run the pass last week in the rain and it was as scketchy as I had seen it. With rain almost everyday since, the pass has become quite slick, and any of you familiar with the Telluride area know that this road is no joke.

So just a warning and reminder to all out there. Have fun and take it slow. Wear your seatbelts, and "It ain't worth dying for"

-Dave in Tride

Dave, I was actually down there again for a week, as was ToyotaDoodz above. Sorry I didn't tell you. I'll be down there again, don't worry!

Anyway, I ran BB 3 times on consecutive days, last Friday through Sunday. It was really pooring and lightning on my Friday run through Ingram Basin. It had stopped awhile before I reached the steps. Real good traction on them and the switchbacks. I've been reading about this on all kinds of boards and read all the news reports. Hard to believe the weather played much of a role, but who knows. Sounds like a freak accident and one can only speculate. Doesn't really matter now, but it is a sad deal.

I believe it was actually on the second switchback after the falls, which isn't nearly as bad or tight as the first, so you may be right about the rain not being a factor...All I know was it was slick as a mo' fo' when I went down last Saturday...

speaking of which, Darren what PSI do you run that trail at?

No appologies...
No offense taken...

The real events are still just speculative...

I did notice from my prior post on Darren's thread, that i guess it was Sunday, not Saturday that we had run BB at about 7:00 pm...

This valley takes too many lives...

But it sure is beautiful...

Everybody, dont forget to enjoy the ride...

and take it slow...

That is so sad!! It remind me of one of a cj7 rolled ahead of me while I was in Aspen last year. But he managed to jump off the truck right before the truck roll. He just hurt his leg when the hood rolled on hig leg but he is ok just lost hig jeep but not his life!!!
