WRITEUP- Lubing Your driveshaft

Ok, children, enough of the giggling. Let's get down to bid-ness.

Here's a simple writeup that shows you how and where to lube your driveshaft zerk fittings. This is for my 98 4runner.

As far as what i've read, the zerk fitting locations may have changed during the 3rd generation model year. So has the type of grease. I believe starting in 00, Toyota standardized to one grease type. Thus to pre-empt the "gee, what kind of grease do i need?", check your freakin' owners manual. That's why they gave you one, boy!

Your write-up says that "googles" are a required tool. I'm not sure how a search engine will help, please elaborate!

Hi Roger,

The process will most likely be identical. However, the lube points *may* be different as well as the type of grease required.

Take a gander at the write up again, look underneath your vehicle w/ a flashlight and compare. That should tell ya!

Bud,

Sure, come on by you cheap arse! I greased all but one of Calrockx's zerks when I put his Cobra 75 in a few months back.

No, the grease guns do not come w/ grease in them. If you want to save some bucks, probably the best thing would be to buy one gun and some synthetic grease for all of the lube points. Grease guns and grease is commonly found in the back of autoparts stores, usually by the oil section.

Anybody have a pneumatic grease gun? Al la

One bump on a hot exhaust while greasing really makes it worth the 50 bucks
