NGK Spark Plug Wires.

I want to replace my 4runner v6 2000, spark plug wires. with NGK, but I noticed that when I went to order them, they only sell 3 as a set? Is there something else I need to order for the other left hand side cylinders?

On my 98 (and I believe all 3rd gens with the 3.4L), there are only 3 wires. On the left side, there are 3 individual spark module things that sit over each plug (having a brain fart, can someone help me with the correct word for those?? ) Each one also controls the spark for one plug on the right side. One end of each wire plugs in to those, and the other end of the wire goes to a plug on the right side.

I hope I didn't booger that up too much, someone please correct me if I'm wrong!

Tom

Sounds right to me, Tom. The term I believe you're looking for is 'coil pack'. I'm sure if there are other specifics we need to add, our man Jay will pipe up.

Hey Raiderman-

Tell us more about these ngk wires...where did you find them and for how much? Do you know what size (diameter) the wire itself is? Just curious...

So the coil packs, should last the life of the vehicle? and hopefully never replace them?

I've got NGK Platinum plugs and those look like a nice addition at my 60k mile service. I guess I will need two sets of those, one for the left side and one for the right, correct?

No, Matt, you only need one set, there are only three plug wires on our engines. Go pop your hood and take a look, you'll see on the passenger side there are the coil packs mentioned above and then the three wires that run over to the drivers side. It was a new concept to me to, when I first started getting aquainted with my engine, too. I'm use to having a distributor and 8 wires, etc...
