Question about trd thermostat?

I have a 98 4Runner V6 4wd.If I replace my stock thermostat with a trd low temp thermostat, what are the benefits/drawbacks? While I'm at it I want to ask how do I clean the MAF sensor? I've read up on it on a website (don't remember which one), but my MAF looks a little different than the one they showed. My MAF looks like it's one piece that is part of the tube after the stock box. Anybody have any ideas/suggestions or has the same setup.? Thanks.

Avoid the TRD piece and just buy a regular low temp (180F) thermostat for under $10. I ran a 10 degree lower temp themostat in my Eclipse for years and it was just a plain one from Pep Boys.

If your engine doesnt' overheat, stay with the stock one.

As you can see in my signature, I have TRD S/C with 7th injector kit, and although TRD recommends to use their thermostat, I stayed with the stock one. When I was using TRD thermostat, I would sometimes stall because of overheating. Going back to stock resolved all the problems.

Thanks for responding so quickly, the reason why I was asking was because yesterday my car overheated. The airconditonining was on and I was in stop and go traffic. When I turned the air off, the car went back to normal, even inb the stop and go traffic. I was wondering since I have to replace the thermostat, which I'm assuming should fix the problem, should I go with trd.

By the way, I have one TRD thermostat for sale. It is brand new, never used in original box. Let me know if you're interested.
