Well Iam back from the northern Okanogen in beautiful B.C. and I gotta say... ahhh... that was good!! It started from my place in Cloverdale which is about twenty mins from the Blaine border crossing for Wash. My tentitive plan was to go for a round trip from Vernon to Osoyoos stopping anywhere I please. The best part bout the trip was waking up to the sunrise everymorning and getting lightly toasted after puttin the coffee on. But yeah, going up was a breeze, 4 1/2 hrs of hwy driving to Vernon and from there going south, Iam very happy to say no.... thats right... no paved roads were used. ha!!! most of the time I wasnt 10 miles near a road. Plenty of 4x4 action Lots of wildlife and nothing but rain. Yeah it did put a bit of a downer on the whole thing but hey, Iam with my 4Runner so alls well! Got stuck three times but nothing my 10,000LB Come-along couldnt handle A couple of scary things happened on my trip, as I was pulling it to a rest stop, screech!!! ok somthings not right with my front end. Upon further investigation, I had found that one of the bolts that holds the brake caliper on had not just come loose but was completly gone!! So everytime I braked the centrifigal (sp) forces would move the whole caliper sideways up the rotor and lean against the inside of my rim. No, not cool at all. So till I found a nut n bolt place I had to tighten the remaining bolt every 10 km. And... I was coming around a dirt road corner at 120km/hr when there are these 6 friggen cows in the road!!! I tell ya, I nearly crapped myself right then!!! Hahaha. Then one night when I was sleeping in the back of the runner, I heard a noise. I look out but duh, it's night so I cant see. I bust out the million candle spotlight and look.... there it is.... 25 yards away... Big I mean Huge... Yellow mountain lion. Ok Lee I say to myself light one up and go back to sleep. So I did and I completly forgot the whole thing. till the morning!!! got out fer a pee and I see these paw prints 5 ft away from my truck. prolly 6 in. in breadth! wow... glad I was in the truck to say the least. But other than that it was an awesome trip. I went with a mission and I succeded. I came back alive... lol. The only thing I gotta say is that if anybody wants to go on a solo trip. Man... ya gotta be prepared, thats it!!

That sounds like a blast! Ive always wanted to do that, but theres no where to wheel around here. at least it was a mountain lion and not a bear! If it smelled food it could have easily ripped right into the 4runner! Thatd be scary to wake up to a huge brown bear drooling on you.

 

Yeah... no doubt about it!!! sorry mr. bear... yes of course you can have anything u want from my truck. Just not me!!!!

 

im so jealouse!!!!!! i figure out what kinda trip ima do by the end of summer.
