OK, I cancelled the order for the torsion bars, tell me about the ball joint spacers!

Hi guys, I took some advice and cancelled the order I just placed for a set of SAW 25mm torsion bars, I want to find more about the ball joint spacers. Can anyone tell me with my stock torsion bars that have 140,000 miles on them with a V6 be OK with the ball joint spacers instead of the heavy duty torsion bars. I just ordered Downey 2" rear springs and want to level the truck out as much as I can in the front without going overboard with it! I use the truck 65% on road and the rest on fire roads, nothing to bad. Please let me know what you would do so I can either re order the torsion bars and crank them up or order the ball joint spacers and go that way! Thanks again< Matt

I ordered the spacers!

Well, I went ahead and ordered the spacers, I am still worred about the stock front torsion bars being worn out, I guess I shouldnt be, the truck has pretty much been babied and has never had big tires on it so they should be OK at 140,000 miles, right? I will have to get some pics posted once I get the rear springs and spacers installed. OH is there anything I would need to install the Downey rear springs before they come in? Thanks, Matt

If the stock bars are wore out that would be great, they might actually move then.

Here is a link to the thread that started it all. It's pretty long, but should answer all of your questions.

I have the stock torsions on my 4runner it has 244,000 miles on it and they work fine with my ball joint spacers. Infact you will probably need to uncrank your torsions a bit to lower the front down.
I have no clue if they are the orginial bars. I think anything with 140,000 mi on it is relatively new.

One clue for what bars you have, you can take some calipers and measure the bars if they are 24mm, they are more than likely stock, 25mm and 26mm are aftermarket sizes.

i gots my ball joint spacers in last weekend along with my land cruiser coils in the rear. before i cranked my torsion bars to get the rest of the lift in the front they were amaizingly soft. like everybody says, now the front actually moves and gives, it was no longer really stiff. but now that i cranked the tbars, my shocks are hyper extended and it makes for a stiff ride. hahahahaha hopefully the new shocks will get here today.

Sounds good, I'm going with some OME's that are for 1.5-2" lifted Samurais. Your truck looks good with the lift. You and I both need 33's now, our 31's are looking pretty tiny with the lift.

yeah well i just got my RS5017's today. they're just giving me the biggest head ache in the world!!! they came with some weird ass little metal tube inside the bushings. i couldn't for the life of me get them out, so i ended up drilling out the new bushings thinking i could use the old bushings (non-stock) but it turns out they're too big. anybody know of where i can find some bushings to buy that i can hell them what size i need?

As for the Torsion Bars I agree the SAW's are too stiff. I put a set of Old Man Emu's on which are between the Stock size and the SAW's. With the ARB bumper and Warn Winch it is perfect.

This has been in the Group buy section for a long time too.

Old Man Emu Torsion Bars 23.4mm for 2nd Generation 4Runners. In stock and ready to ship.

Click on the link for the best deal out there.

To order you must post here:https://www.yotatech.com/forums/show...5&postcount=27

Supplies are limited.....Don't wait.....Order Today!!!
