Ok, I've got a problem. My EFI Fuse on my 3VZE is blowing quite a bit lately. I noticed that it only does it when I'm decelerating and making a turn, such as getting off the highway and turning into my work. It'll blow right when I shift into second and start to let off the clutch while making the turn.

I really don't think it's a short anywhere. A short would mean it would blow spontaneously, and not predictably like it's been doing.

I've also noticed that my steering has felt a bit stiffer lately. I think my power steering pump is going out. The fluid level seems ok, but I can tell that its a little harder to turn than normal.

I guess my question is this... would a malfunctioning power steering pump cause any kind of fuel/electrical failures? I guess I should also add that I had cruise installed a while back, which stopped working a couple weeks after the install. The steering began to get stiffer a week or two after that. Does a cruise control system hook up to the power steering in any way?

Thanks in advance for any info. If you've got any theories, shoot em at me. I'm probably gonna take it back to the guy who put the cruise in and get him to figure out what's wrong, but it's a 2.5 hour drive back home and I don't want to be pulling over every 30 miles to replace the EFI fuse.

Here's the whole wire. I highlighted it in yellow and circled where it's grounded to the body:



So anybody out there who's got the 3VZE, if you could go look and see where that wire goes, I'd appreciate it.

 

Could that be a ground strap? Maybe it hooks up to the motor? A fuse blows because of high amps( if you didn't know that). Did you put the same size and kind of fuse in? Cars are hard to find a out whats wrong with them. Give me a house or a machine and thats easys for me. you could just have a bad ground.

 

It does look like a ground strap, but I need to know what it's attached to... engine or body and where it's supposed to go.

I just went out to the truck to take a look. It grounds to the engine. The yellow circle is where it connects.

Thanks! I figured that's where it went b/c there was a pretty clean looking hole in the head right there. I have no idea where the bolt is though. Probably have to get a new one. Thanks again!
