Uggh.Engine knock after complete rebuild. Thoughts?

Uggh…complete rebuild from bottom up. All new OEM components (bearings, rings, pistons, bolts….). Dropped it in and whe it finally started very loud knock and runs like crap. Don’t want to destroy the newly rebuilt engine…praying I don’t have to redo it.

Any thoughts on what else it might be? I know its a long shot but maybe…could it be timing way off?

Thx

Usually if timing is way off it takes a bunch of cranks to fire. I think. Are you getting oil to valvetrain?
I’d pull valve cover and see if it gives any signs

I had a rebuild go bad on me, but that’s bc the builder screwed me …. He did a good job of it too.

its hard to say w out knowing what kind of knock. Rod knock? Wrist pin? Valve tap

When you did bearings did you do a new crank? Have your crank turned, mic’d it? Are we sure the new bearings fit an old crank?

Is it coming from low on motor, high? Is it a deep thud or a high pitched ding. Record It.

Hold on, I don’t mean this in any disrespectful way, but you took on the complete tear down and rebuild of a motor but you can’t determine what areas of the motor could be contributing the knock?
sre you sure you built it properly?
