that is a rod knock. 100%. To me though that almost sounds like a completely broken rod ready to shove itself through the block.

Swell, now should i go for a rebuild or just replace the whole engine?
I feel i could run across some nasty work with a rebuild, i'd just like a second opinion...

22r is a pretty straightforward and easy engine to rebuild

before you buy anything for the rebuild get that head off that engine. If it's a completely broke rod it could tear up the cyl walls to the point even boring them out wouldn't help and the block would be trash.

If you need a crank and/or rods japanengine.com has cheap ones. Some people on here including myself have had good luck with their stuff. I have had no issues so far with their crank and rods.
