I have recently had to install a new radiator, while doing that I noticed my water outlet was clearly expelling some antifreeze. The timing cover had a damp appearance. I resealed it when I did the radiator the other day using grey rtv, however checking this morning it appears to be possibly leaking a small amount again. It can’t be much as the coolant level hasn’t dropped since getting the air purged out of the system…but still annoying. Any suggestions on a better sealant to use?!? See photo for reference.

I've done this job a couple of times and never had it leak. Recommend the Toyota fipg below. Clean it really well, including the sealing groove and tighten to 11 ft. Lb.

 

Thanks for the suggestions. I have to travel for work this week but am going to order some Toyota original sealant and let it cure for 24 hours before refilling the antifreeze. I could only let it sit for a few hours on this repair, probably just not long enough…

 

Run a die over the studs and a tap through the nuts to insure there is no debris that might prevent the parts from being pulled down square and tight.
