Installing a new aftermarket stereo in my 92 and my wiring is a mess. I know many have had wiring problems with botched installs and my truck was no exception. My original harness and plug are long gone and so I have to make the actual connections to the chassis wires. Can anyone help me confirm the chassis wiring? I have a light gray chassis wire and I believe this should be connected to the red ignition wire from the head unit. I have a blue with white stripe chassis wire and I believe this should be connected to the yellow 12V constant (battery) wire from the head unit. I have an brown/orange wire from the chassis and I believe this should be connected to the black ground wire from the head unit. Does all this sound correct? Please let me know your thoughts and all input is GREATLY appreciated!!
See if this helps.
I'd recommend getting a radio wiring repair kit. they're dirt cheap, under $10. Comes with the connectors and enough wire(usually) to repair the loom damage.
Then most decent radio companies offer an adapter that goes from their radio to your new connector. Very clean
Thanks for the reply! However, mine has the factory connector plug removed, so those harnesses won't help me in this case; I'm left to figure out wire colors. This chart is helpful though. Thanks again!
Well if you have a multimeter that will help find the most important wires, I was just pulling up results on the web and the info is endless, multimeter and google and you’ll be golden
Without knowing what has been done it’s hard for us to troubleshoot, previous owners do some interesting things
