90 4runner 3vze stalls after starting when warm, starts and runs fine when cold
My 3vze is having an issue starting only when it has been warmed up. If it is cold then it starts and runs fine until I turn it off. After that point though, it will start up, idle goes slightly below normal, then over the next 5 seconds or so it stutters and dies.
So far I have:
- checked for vacuum leaks with soapy water (I have a smoke machine on the way just to be sure)
- Added seafoam to my fuel
- Tested TPS which seems to be fine
- Replaced distributor cap and rotor
- tested and cleaned MAF
- Replaced air filter
- Cleaned throttle body while still on the engine (I have not thoroughly cleaned the air control valve yet)
- Tested o2 sensor
- Spark plugs and wires replaced one year ago
- ignition coil replaced one year ago
- Fuel pump and fuel filter replaced one year ago
- EGR delete done last year
- Resonator removed from intake last year
- Catalytic converter got stolen so I straight piped it last year
My next steps will be to use the smoke machine to make sure I haven't missed any leaks, test the coolant temp sensor (I think if this was faulty the car wouldn't run at all when warm right?), check my coolant hoses going to the throttle body, and remove the throttle body to adequately clean the air control valve.
At this point I'm doubting those checks will lead to much...does anyone have more ideas? I think it could also be the fuel pressure regulator or some kind of block in the fuel lines, I got a fuel pressure gauge but testing the fuel pressure is seeming like more work than just plugging the thing into a schrader valve, it might be necessary though. I've heard people also mention a dripping cold start injector.
I attached a video of what happens when I try to start it.
