22re a/c diagram?

Aloha Yotatech community!

This is Kaua'i 89' Yota... now with a "newer" rig lol. I now have a 1993' Toyota Pickup xtra cab with a 22RE

This is currently my second yota ever and my 89 didn't have A/C at all so learning this is all new to me. However my 93 has and I noticed the compressor does't switch on. So im looking to replace that and the dryer as well.

The 93 has 135k miles on it and the previous owner had it at 110k miles... they've never had the A/C blow cold since they had it.

Does anyone have a A/C diagram that I can follow? Any tips when trying to remove the compressor and dryer? Any information helps.

MAHALO!

Not to bad for an island truck here in Hawaii. Normally the salty water just crushes these gems

Here's the manual section on air conditioning: https://web.archive.org/web/20120427...ditioning.html
While you might need to replace the compressor at some point, there are a lot of things that can keep the clutch from actuating. Most likely, you don't have sufficient refrigerant charge. You can test that directly with gauges like these https://www.harborfreight.com/r134a-...set-58776.html.

Of course, if you have no refrigerant, where did it go? You can certainly search for the leak, but that's something you might want to leave to a professional.

Aloha Scope103🤙

Mahalo for the timely response. Any information is valuable and I appreciate you taking the time to share some of your knowledge.

I took a deeper look into my A/C system in my truck and it's definitely an R12 system, all original.

I've heard lots of opinions about this system... things like it's colder than R134, harder to find the refrigerant, and of course switching over to the R134 instead. Have you done a conversion like that before? Also, im assuming the gauge tester your recommended is jsut for R134 systems?

Here's everything I know about a/c: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...-r134a-284801/

The HF gauge will work on any refrigerant (actually, any gas). It's calibrated in the boiling points of R134a (and R404a and R407a), but while those are handy you're usually going to be looking at psi only.

Just read through it! That was a great write up man. Can't believe that was 10 years ago lol. Do you still have your yota?

I'm definitely going to have some work cut out for me.. the Hawaii summer is just around the corner and need to get this situated asap.

If I can find a full conversion kit I might just go that route and find a certified A/C technician to do it.
