So I've been driving my 1988 4runner around with my rear window down for the past week and have opened/closed the gate a few times. anyway I opened the gate and when I closed it (not hard) it shattered. Is this common? Is there a reason? Possible not rolled down all the way?

 

Possibly some other component in there loose and knocked against the glass? Tempered glass is pretty hard to break without a sharp edge hitting it.

where do you live? I have an extra back glass.

 

No idea it was original glass and I had closed and opened it many times. Man that would be so effn awesome. I’ve been looking everywhere for a new one. I live in Vacaville California
