Fuel pressure regulator Install ?

Hello I was wondering if Someone could help a newbie out.
How is a fuel pressure regulator suppose to be hooked up?
Just purchased 1986 pickup with Weber 32/36 carb. I’ve read I need to purchase a new fuel filter for return line going back to the tank in order for the FPR to work correctly ?
Thanks sorry for the stupid question I’m learning. Plan to go with the FPR from yota shop ( holly fpr).

also having a leaking around my carb base. It is hard to start sometimes after motor is warmed up. Had to pump the gas and turn over motor 3-4 times the other day after a 15 min drive down the road. Parked for maybe 5 mins.

You do need a regulator for the Weber. I mounted mine on the fender with a pressure gauge. Cut the fuel hose going to the carb, insert the regulator, then on to the carb. Needs to be set at 2 lbs. As far as the fugly adapter plates. These are notorious leakers. You can take it apart, install new gaskets and use Hylomar to seal it and pray OR buy a one piece adapter and solve your problem for good.
