91 Pickup 22RE Power Steering & AC Install?

How expensive and hard are these to do? Presuming I can gather the parts (go go Rancho Parts) and have basic mechanical skills. Would it be better to just have a shop do it? What kind of shop INSTALLS these sorts of things? Repairs? Sure. Recharge? Of course. Installs? Where would I even start to look? LOL

If anyone has any experience or information, it would be greatly appreciated.

Can't tell you about A/C but power steering is pretty simple. A few engine brackets, pump, crank pulley, belt, reservoir, hoses, and the steering box and steering shaft. It's all bolt on and I did mine in a few hours. You just have to remember to use dexron ATF and not power steering fluid.

Why ATF and not Power Steering Fluid? Interesting 🤔

Be aware that aftermarket rebuilt car parts store PS gear units input shaft may not fit onto the rag joint connection. I tried 3 from different manufacturers and not a one would slid into the connector. They had the same number of splines but the PS gear input shaft was slightly larger diameter. The last one the store manager personally delivered to see it too didn't fit.

Went with an online salvage yard search. Got a used Toyota one for half the price and the input shaft fit perfectly. It's now been 7 years and no issues or leaks.

Salvage yard search may be the best place to get the needed brackets of PSP and AC compressor.

Good luck
