Ok guys...So heres the deal.
Few of you who I personally know or have wheeled with know that my truck came stock with no power steering...In 1991 why...? I couldnt tell you..It's as bare bones as you can get, no ac, no tilt wheel...nothin...
Anyway...
After my recent incident over the past weekend of breaking my pinkie due to no power steering..Im trying to figure out what parts i need to install a PS system on my truck..

Its a 91 22re..(in sig)

Im looking at this kit from trail gear..http://www.trail-gear.com/hydro-pump.html
So if I pick up one of these also...http://www.trail-gear.com/ifs-boxes.html
Would it basically be a bolt on plumb and bleed job...Or am i missing something that is necessary..?

Whoa...I thought PS came standard after '88!

 

I think I may have a PS pump if you're interested...
you'll still need the hoses, reservoir and steering box and cooler though....

 

see abe, I think i remember you saying that..but like....im not questioning its relability...but i know those things do go bad...

you're more than welcome to buy a pump for 200, and a steering box for 400... and then the hoses and cooler elsewhere....

Both my '91's had/have power steering. Call 'Cougar for what Abe doesn't have for you

 

just go to a pick and pull and get the parts you need. Anything from 86 on should work right. hell give me $499 and I'll piece it together for you.

And check to see if you have that idler arm pulley. Mine didn't when I swapped mine over to powersteering (btw I'm totally and completely unsatisfied with TG's "high-flow" TC style pump. Maybe I just got a fubar'd one brand-new for $400, but that's besides the point...). Those pulley's run ~$200, but you can just run a special routing that I came up with after beerstorming for a while. Just cut the ac belt, and run it from crank to ac to ps.

no. it's the idler pulley for the ps pump. and I'm 99% sure I've got it.

 

Ok sweet, So I'll check out that trail gear kit and make a not of what i need...
Pump is coming from you...
So, Resivoir, fluid cooler, ifs steering box and lines...That sound like about it...other then a longer belt that will fit all the way around..?

 

nope.... get the power steering belt- it rides it's own groove...
...so you should get along well with it.

(might even have the belt here too...)

Is there a u pull it anywhere near us abe...id rather go to one of those places..?

 

NOTE: power steering is not going to solve the root cause of the problem. Keep your fingers and thumbs outside the wheel when offroad as the steering wheel sometimes jerks suddenly!

hit the yellow pages- ecology wrecking in bloomington, pick-a-part in ontario, and one other I can't remember at the moment.
