General "Thank You"

This post is a blanket “thank you” to all the people who have helped me keep my 1990 4runner on the road. Both me and my 4runner got sick about the same time, around 2010, When it happened it was just a fun car to drive and work on, but when I fell ill I started losing a lot of things and the 4runner was one of those that I kept because it was in my workshop with the engine out, but my cognitive abilities suffered and I forgot a lot of what I knew about basic diagnosis and simple automotive principles. Everything took a very long time for me to do and I, surprisingly, have very few friends who know much about Toyotas (mostly classic GM and Ford people) and I was left to do a lot on my own.

Now I’m “better” and my one-time project car is now my primary transportation. It may be many years before I can buy a new one, so the help I got here was worth a lot more than I can express. But maybe I don’t want a new one now that we have gone through so much together and are both still alive.

I relied heavily on this community, but I’ve never been lectured here about what I don’t know, and I think that says a lot about the kind of people who continue to share their knowledge with the rest of us. My car still needs some work, but it’s reliable again and that is in no small part due to the advice and suggestions that came from this community.

So thank you to everyone for answering my questions and even trying to figure out what I was really asking when I didn’t make any sense. Much of the last decade is a blur to me, but I always knew to come here.

I'm sorry for your accident. I'm happy your doing better. I'm thrilled there are still knowledgeable, kind, generous people left in this selfie world. Thanks for sharing.
